Carwash: Disco Classics box set

review car wash x1 congThis is a “does what it says on the tin” CD: it’s a compilation of the most iconic disco classics of all time (all trendy now, and it’s in partnership with the London and Ibiza club brand Carwash).
Everyone is on here, and pretty much every classic hit you’d want, from an age when dance music meant a choice between disco or disco; none of these fancy sub-divisions we have today. It opens with the title song and after that it’s 59 classics. There could be some rationale behind the split of the tracks across the CD but we can’t work it out.
There’s not much else to say, except that it’s ideal for any Christmas party or indeed any occasion when you need some cheerful music.
Our favourites include the ultra-classic among classics Heatwave’s Boogie Nights and Donna Summer’s genre defining I Feel Love; Sylvester’s cheesy You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) is still good, as is closing song Last Night a DJ Saved My Life from Indeep and of course there’s Chic’s Le Freak.
If you don’t care about trend-setting singles and just enjoy dancing round your handbag there’s plenty of opportunity, too from Candi Staton’s Young Hearts Run Free to Barry White – the Walrus of Love – with You’re the First, the Last, My Everything.
Out now.
